Australian Bushfire Building Conference 2020
What can we learn from the Black Summer bushfires?
Last summer was unforgettable. Intense bushfires burned throughout the eastern states of Australia for the entire summer season, destroying 5,900 buildings (including 2,779 homes).
What can the building industry learn from this? This is the crucial question being asked at the Australian Bushfire Building Conference this year.
The 6th annual Bushfire Conference will be going ahead as a one-day virtual conference, with a live 1.5 day event in the Blue Mountains to be added if such events are allowed by September.
This year’s Bushfire Conference has been flagged as a ‘must-attend event’ for carpenters, builders, architects, and building designers across the country.
The conference highlight will be a key address from Shane Fitzsimmons AFSM, the inaugural Commissioner for Resilience NSW and former Commissioner of the NSW Rural Fire Service.
“There has never been a more important time for building industry professionals to gain further insight into how bushfires operate, what we can learn from the previous season and where we can improve,” Mr Fitzsimmons said.
